Perhaps a dispenser that heals more, but provides no metal--more for aiding a front line party than building sentries and the like.
I really like the idea of a whole new set of buildings that increases the engineer's offensive capabilities--mobile dispensers, quicker sentries, teleporters that send to where the engineer currently is.
The game is going to be nigh unplayable during the engie update, though. Everyone playing engineer, trying to get achievements and try out their new equipment? Ugh. When I heard that soldier and demo were getting an update, I assumed that engie would be getting one at the same time. Nothing counters engie spam like equal quantities of demo/solly spam.
Looks like that won't be the case though.
EDIT: I like stuff that slows you down. Currently, only Natascha does that, and it bugs the living hell out of me. Mostly, because it's a good strategy and I -still- don't know how to effectively counter it. Mayhaps the engie gets some way to slow entire groups of enemies passing through a certain area, making them easier targets. |

How about something like a (very weak) gravity well? Not enough to suck objects in or anything, just enough to deflect projectiles by a couple degrees as they go by it. Give it lots of health or make it basically immune to splash damage. You could set it up in large, wide-open areas to deflect rockets and nades away from sentries (and really infuriate snipers).
I really like physics-based weapons. I don't know why. |

HS's or a stab in the back(both of which I suck at!) |

| | Re: Engineer Update I just want the Engie's EMP grenades back. I'm seriously dissapointed that with all the updates not a single person got their TFC weapon back that was taken away. Technically the Pyro did with flaregun (used to be flame rocket).
EMP Grenade, for those unfamiliar, did no physical damage itself. It exploded any ammo packs on the ground (so in TF2 it would be the respawning ammo packs and dropped weapons by dead enemies) as well as if you had 75% ammo left on your person, it would blow up as well.
To add to the oil slick idea, the pyro could light it on fire with flamer or flaregun, or the snipers fire arrow and would greate a short 2 second patch of fire that set enemies aflame.
A sentry with less damage but more armor or faster repairing. Basically.. I want protection from Direct Hits. I FUCKING HATE DIRECT HIT vs SENTRY >.<
One of the major annoyances I have when playing engie is getting y teleporter all the way up to level 3, getting my forward base set up and then have some snot nosed scout or douche spy gun the entrance do death. On instaspawn servers, I just suicide and rebuild it.. but I still have to reupgrade. Maybe take away a weapon of mine to give me the ability to keep the TPs upgrade levels unless both are blown up (such as sapping) |

| | Re: Engineer Update 2 ideas:
1) Somewhat related to coflropter's idea, this machine is one you build by your buildings. The building itself is like almost a satelite shaped/umbrella shaped thing that can extend out and automatically detect projectiles, like rockets, grenades, and stickies around itself. The "Umbrella" itself will then do things accordingly to what kind of explosive it is. If it's a rocket or grenade in the air, it will just move in front of the rockets/grenades trajectory. If it's a grenade or sticky on the floor, it will cover the stickies/grenades as to minimilize damage on the other buildings. The umbrella itself has around 400 hp, so that it can take a lot of fire, and buy time for engies to go out to battle.
Something like that, except the dome is more curved in, so its like a semi-sphere. The only question is to make it replace what weapon. But idk.
2) A superpowered wrench that 1-hit kos any enemy buildings. On the flip side, this will only give buildings +15 instead of +25. Imo it gives a great incentive to Medics to uber engies. And it'd be pretty funny. |

| | Re: Engineer Update Or you could replace the sentry gun with something which doesn't shoot at enemies, but instead shoots at incoming projectiles. So, shoot a rocket at it, and it will fire a spray of bullets at the rocket and detonate it in midair.
I remember my high school physics teacher describing this to our class -- apparently it's used on aircraft carriers to shoot down incoming cruise missiles, and I think it's supposed to be part of the whole anti-ICBM system -- as a big radar dish and a bunch of high-speed miniguns. (Rogue's picture of the VLA made me think of it.) The radar spots the missiles, and the miniguns quickly spin to fire, basically, a cloud of shrapnel at them. The missiles fly through the cloud and disintegrate. So it's very close to what sentry guns do now, you'd just have to make them target faster (almost instantly) and shoot at projectiles instead of players. |

| | Re: Engineer Update That might work, but that'd only be useful if u have another engie with you because, since you're replacing your own sentry gun, it'd only be protecting your dispenser and teleporters, which don't take much to destroy. |

| | Re: Engineer Update How's about an anti-sap device, you can only put it on one of your built objects, but when a spy tries to sap it it explodes. Kinda like the snipers shield, only it destroys the spy in a dramatic fashion. |

Flame SG... shorter range and drains faster. |

I'd need a good model for it though. The glow effect isn't the same as it was in HL1. | |
