Hey guys,
In the coming weeks there going to be features added to the forum and the server that will require players to link their in game player account with their forum account.
Essentially, this will tell the server you’re a member of the forum and the server and website will know with 100% reliability which user you are.
Here is just two of the things that will be done with this information:
1. Automatically upgrading user groups on the forum.
- Automatically making regulars part of the "Community Regulars" group here on the forums.
- Automatically making subscribers member of the "Subscribers" group.
- Automatically making admins member of the "Server Admins" group.
It will also handle stripping these groups if the conditions to meet the group are lost (in the case of Server Admins/Subscribers).
2. Having your user profile here on the forum capable of showing some of your stats (such as how long you have played on our servers).
I have other things that I want to do as well, but i'm still in the thought process.
Linking your account is optional, except for admins. Subscribers will need to link their accounts in order to access the forum based subscriber features (such as the secret pr0n forum).
So how do you link your account?
Open console, "linkaccount <forum username> <forum password>"

The thing is I'm going to have subscriber/admin/regular roles upgraded on the forum based on that steam id, so I obviously can not accept just any steam id, because a player could just set his steam id as one of the admins and get admin roles.
With the system the way I implemented it, you must be on the server using your steam id and then essentially login to your forum account to have the accounts linked. So you can only put an ID that's actually yours. |

wow voog. You are one hell of a l33t coder. Maybe you can make a realtime scoreboard with ajax that shows current scores and stats in the servers. That would be really cool. |

I'd rather have a way of knowing what maps the other servers are running than a web based scoreboard.
It would be nice to know x server is running x map before I started a vote for x map. Meant to make a topic about it but I didn't for some reason. |

Anyone else get that warm fuzzy feeling seeing Voog's server in the #10 slot out of the 1900+ they have ranked there?
