| | Week Long Vegetarian Challenge Hey Everyone, I like Turtles here. (Lame introduction.)
Sitting here waiting for my class to start, so I figured I'd post something here. One of my Elective classes that I was forced to take, is called Society and the Environment, pretty easy course, something to boost my GPA. Well, one of my assignments is go to Vegetarian for a week, starting.. today. Has anyone tried something like this before? Is anyone a vegetarian or vegan already?
Its the first day, woke up late so I didn't have to figure out what to eat for breakfast that didn't involve cheese, eggs, milk or butter. Had a "Garden" Pita from this Pita Pit place we have here on campus, It was okay.
Post! What do you think? could you do it? Have you done it? |

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge I think I've already retroactively failed every vegetarian challenge I will ever take in the future (I like chicken that damn much).
To sum up, no I couldn't do it.

Academic honesty policies aside...I'd lie to the prof. to get through that class. It's really none of his GD business what any of the students eat.

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge I've had problems with our local Pita Pit, but their corporate office was happy to cover over them with free coupons. As far as not eating meat for a week, if you're not drinking milk or eating butter, thats Vegan as many vegetarians I know will eat those things.
And no, I have steak marinating in my fridge for tonight

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge I tried going a day without meat. I failed. But it is possible, Cereal and fruit for breakfast, big ass salad for lunch, and something that pretends to be meat for dinner - vege burger, chik'n, etc, Morningstar Farms® - Products they taste alright, def not meat, but it can pass with a lot of sauce. |

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge I was raised as a Vegetarian. Gave it up at about 16. I don't like veggies enough so it really limited what i could eat. Also I wasn't forced to be hardcore about the no eggs, cheese, etc.. I gotta have mayo and cheese on my stuff. I just wasn't allowed to eat meat.
These things are still the shit.
And the Boca chicken patties aren't that bad with some cheese. BOCA Products | Veggie Burgers, Chik'n, Veggie Patties and More |

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge It's REALLY easy... I'm a vegetarian, went veggie again for my birthday (sep 30th) as well as didn't drink/smoke/have caffeine for a month. I was a vegetarian for my entire undergrad. It's really not that hard. Just have lots of cheese/beans/tofu. General Tso's Tofu is actually better than the chicken alternative imo.

I should clarify, It's not being forced, if you do not want to go Vegetarian, you can opt to do another assignment. |

I forgot that tuna wasn't a vegetable or fruit after a drunk raid in my pantry. |

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge Dude, it's all about LENTILS and BEANS.
Get some vegetarian burritos and whatnot, and lentil soups and things! So good!
Actually, watch out with the soup. If it's canned, it'll be awful. |

| | Re: Week Long Vegetarian Challenge tofu supposedly gives you bitch tits, I never ate it that often. The best tofu product is the fake bologna, which I still eat occasionally. The only dish with straight Tofu that I love is Pad Thai, but that has fish oil 99% of the time but not if you make it yourself. I stuck with lentils and beans for protein. I love mexican food so that's what I ate a lot of but you have to be careful with the fat/lard in refried beans.
Steak is awesome but if you seriously can't go vegetarian for a week then you have no will power. They limited it to strict vegetarian? Not lacto-ovo? I couldn't live without cheese. I don't eat meat that often, but with moderation I believe it is much healthier(for myself) to eat it.
You're totally gonna get sick to your stomach changing your diet like that so suddenly.
Have fun, try not to go overboard on carbs and fried food(makes it good right? lolol) like most new vegetarians do. |
