| | Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? I seem to be hearing mixed reviews on this game. It has some cool features, but I can't seem to find those awesome HD quality in-game shots in any of the ofifical screenshots or videos. They seem... meh... for a game that just came out under a year ago.
I saw voogru playing it all day Friday. lol |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? Before I bought the game 2 days ago, I had only played it on the 360. I stopped playing because the lag and spiking made me resent the game rather than enjoy it. I could say the same about Oblivion.
My computer is very decent, I'd say above average. Fallout 3 looks MARVELOUS! Well, at least compared to what I experienced before. Loading is smooth, graphics don't slow down, everything is just more detailed... I'd say if you have a computer that's up for it, PC is the way to go.
On the other hand, I can't offer a good opinion if you've already played the game thoroughly. Also, somebody here has stated that the PC version is prone to crashing? I haven't experienced it yet though, and I've been playing it all day yesterday too...
Half price is hard to argue with
Edit: I've taken a screenshot... Running 1680x1050, High Quality, Soooooo smooth. Apparently, my screenshot is too big to be attached via forum. Screenshot here

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? If you like Rpg's i'd say it's worth it. Don't expect a 1st person shooter, you'll be using targeting system more often than not. It's gotta good story, levels nicely, 'sandbox' world is fun to explore/quest. There's 5 or 6 ways to solve any problem, someone has an item you need, pick his pocket, hack his computer, talk him outta it, shoot 'em in the face, however you wanna play your character. The strategy guide is 460 pages long, 200 pages are maps cause it's huge. Great game, was all I played for a month after I got it. If you played Oblivion and liked it, this is a must, very similar, but a step above.
Btw I have Pc version, never had any problems, although my computer was newish when I started playing and now I have so much junk on there it lags alittle.
But $25 bucks, yeah, definitly worth it. |

I think most/all of crashing problems stemmed from quad-core issues but I'm guessing it's been addressed by now or you can still google the quick fix like I did. |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? Also, it's moddable to hell and back with tons of great(and some not so great) mods out there. So after you play through legitimately, you can change things up pretty hardcore, make things easier(coughweightlimitcough) or harder(ohgodthere'sfiftysupermutantsinthatroom&Iha venoexplosives) depending on your style ;p
Great for times when you either just wanna play/dick around alone, net's out(grrcomcast) or just like a good fps/RPG hybrid. There's a ton more to explore than you even realize at first too...my advice though is to NOT follow the storyline if you do get it, because unlike most rpgs, the storyline does NOT lead you around near sidequests, you miss out on SO MUCH if you only do the story quests.
Also, the Non-modified "ending" sucks. I don't wanna spoil it but jesus christ it was so terrible and anticlimatic(not to mention anti-logic if you found certain allies along the way) that that's the only major complaint about the game, terrible ending(Note: I've read they changed it in later expansions, but I haven't experienced it yet so I can't speak on that) |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? Definitely worth getting, while the ending did suck overall was a fun game to waste time. I paid full price for it and if given the choice again, I'd buy it again. $25 sounds like a bargain. |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? If im not playing TF2 im playing this, 25 dollars? hell yes its worth it. like most said above me, theres ALOT to do in this game and many ways to do it. u can play the game over again and do things even slightly different and get different results ( for instance u can insult a NPC with the " I cant go anywhere without bumping into you assholes" comment :P ) to any viewing this thread, i highly recommend this one. yes the game has crashed a few times on me but then again so has TF2 so thats not unusual. heck, i have yet to even grab the added content packs and ive already put about 40 hours into this game (most from dickin around and just exploring). happy gaming everyone |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? I play it on 360 and have never had lag problems so you should get your 360 checked out luigi. Its one of the few games that I would say is actually worth the $60 new on 360, so if you dont STEAL it from steam for $25 right now you're an idiot lol.

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? I actually play the game with my 360 pad instead of mouse/keyboard, as the interface is already designed for it. Using VATS, I don't even need to aim most of the time.
There are times though when I"m fighting a bunch at once I'll run out of VAT juice (whatever its called) and will have to jump up to the mouse so I can actually aim. |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? I rarely used VATs other than longrange sniping...helps you work on your natural aim if you don't ;p More reliable too if you think you can control it |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? I only got like 12 hours into it before the dvd drive on my 360 ate itself, I'm about to get it on PC to finish it because MS wants 100 bucks to fix my xbox.
So yeah, it's worth $25. |

| | Re: Fallout 3 for $25 Worth it? Never payed for it and then it bit me in the ass (for some reason it was an xbox rip converted to PC) so it crashed a ton on my PC. However despite the crashing it was visually jaw dropping, the gameplay was unique (to me), story was complete. 25$ is a steal imo. If i had the money and time I'd go and spend it on something like this.
