Default RPGs and so on..

Double new topics, I know, my apologies.

Anyway, I noticed my FFXII box earlier and was reminded of how much I enjoyed that game until I completely beat every aspect of it...oh well. Anyone know of any relatively new (or not even new) rpg games similar to FFXII that they would recommend? I haven't played on like that in quite some time and am looking for somethin to play.

It's not like FF but I have been playing Heros of Might and Magic V. So far pretty good.

Chrono Trigger still owns to this day. They have it for the DS now, but I prefer the pc rom for more advanced saving and frameskipping controls. The Tales series (Tales of Eternia, Tales of Symphonia, etc) aren't too bad either, considering S|E kind of hit a dry spell before and after XII. Specifically what console?

That's rough...there really are some amazing console rpg's for the psx and snes. People nowadays can't stomach them, but it all depends on what kind of gamer you are. I won't suggest anything for the 360, because it makes a better media center than it does a gaming console (fire away). As for the computer, you can emulate a lot of platforms. I'd suggest picking up Dolphin (Gamecube emulator) and Tales of Symphonia. After that, pick up Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door ~ both are great gamecube rpgs

If you have a Gamecube, get Tales of Symphonia. Best Tales game ever, by far. A LOT of replay value due to the endgame ability to transfer data to new files in something of a shop system. The Tales series always gave out GRADE after each battle and at the end you can use the accumulated GRADE to buy replay benefits like all techniques, 10x Experience points, titles, recipes, party relationships, etc. I highly recommend it

There's always The Last Remnant. Hit me up if you want to know about it.

First I gotta say, I cant stand paper mario lol.
Mass Effect, amazing game, unfortunately it's lost some replay value for me since I've beatin it 5-6 times (yeah i know...)
I'm startin to look into this Tales stuff and it looks a bit cartoony but I might give it a try.
And Momaw, funny you mention that cause I was lookin through steam's RPGs and got stuck on that one for a bit, care to share a little more insight? lol

I played a few Tales games and I'm not too fond of the fight system they use. In the one I played it was only 2D and it was kind of hard to tell what was going on in the fights. Now I LOVE the Star Ocean games and the most recent one came out for the 360, Star Ocean: The Last Hope. The fight systems on those games NEVER get old. That's about all I can think of in terms of NEW rpgs. Momaw already mentioned Last Remenant. So those 2 would be able it for 360. Oh and Fable 2, that one was pretty fun and a 2nd person can jump in at any time online or off and play through your story with you.

Oh, one thing to mention: Last Remnant for PC is an improvement over 360.

Agreed. So many people complain about the graphics, but they don't realize just how great those older RPG's were in terms of story, music, and characters. All they worry about is the visuals. People are missing out, and it's such a shame.

Gahhhh, played through fable 2 already lol. Momaw, you suggested last remnant....then every person in that thread says the game sucks huge nuts lol. I question whether I can go back to FFXII. Other then grinding my 3 off-characters to level 99, there is literally NOTHING left in the game to do.
