Don't buy it, its a buggy laggy pos. Seriously, me and Thief just played a match, its utterly terrible.

Fuck you EA.

How did you play a match? If you played beta, then well, it's beta!

Telling us not to buy a game way prior to it's release, and heck, forming an opinion about something so early isn't fair to the game.

EA is a horrible producer, I agree.

However, I was a huge fan of CnC Generals so I have the inherent bias to at least try every CnC game after it.

That said, tiberium warfare was horrible >_>

I usually don't form such an early opinion of games in Beta, but this is terrible. Its worse than C&C3 by a long shot, and I beta'd that. C&C3 was at least playable in beta, RA3 doesn't bring anything new to the RTS genre, the graphics are bland (even compared to C&C3), and the overall design of the game feels rushed and barely half finished.

EA are trashing Red Alert's reputation with this offering.

It's still a beta and has a TBA release date. Lots of time there.

Simply put, theres absolutely no reason to buy this when C&C3 is all around a better game. Red Alert 3 brings nothing new to the table and you're right, unless they drastically change the game in a new direction, this'll be a waste of money.

PS: I've been playing C&C series since the original on my 14.4 baud modem and it saddens me that Westwood is gone and the series has come to this.

Yes... it is not good. The beta is more like a full featured DEMO instead of a beta. The graphics look sweet for the first 5 minutes until you realize its just a cartoonized version of C&C3 with bloom lighting effects on high settings. As for RA2, I never thought the online was bad. Of course any game with 'integrated' gamespy 'support' instantly adds +7 on the shit scale, it was more than playable... which is more than I can say for RA3 so far

eh, I've never been a fan of the Red Alert series. Don't know why. Just never liked it. I've always been more partial to CnC.

On that note, I enjoyed CnC3. Sooner or later, I'll get around to playing the expansion.

I absolutely loved RA2/YR x-pac during its time which is why I was looking forward to RA3. But like tek said, theres still a lot of time. Not saying that EA is really gonna make anything out of the time they have but theres still the possibility.....

C&C Generals was not a C&C game. It was simply the beginning of the end for everything C&C. RA2 was not at all like RA. They dropped all connections with the tiberium storyline and made two types of storylines: Red Alert and Tiberium. C&C 3 was a little better but still nothing like the originals. The expansion pack just created even more butcher slashes at the once great storyline. Red Alert 3 is going to be just as bad but since I own them all the way to the first C&C I'll buy it and likely hate it but still play it. C&C died with Westwood when they sold out to EA.

I agree, Generals wasn't a C&C game, it was an RTS game with the C&C title put on the cash in on the reputation. Westwood developed the first half of Generals, with EA doing the other half and its an unsupported nightmare, granted it's still fun to play, when you're not getting scudbugged.
