You know what they say, the few ruin it for the many

(I'd probably care a bit more if SA's community meant anything to me)

I'm going to work under the assumption you've never hosted a server before. I'm not so sure that the ban should be lifted either. You clearly were in support of crashing the server. Who's to say you won't be "testing out" more bugs in the future... on a server YOU DON'T OWN.

If I sound a bit angry you'll have to forgive me, I enjoy playing TF2 on these servers and when someone denies me that privelage for no reason, I get a bit upset.

Well the way I see it, he seems to be sincere about his predicament, and thats all you can ask from someone in his position...

Then on the other hand, sincerity isn't something this forum hasn't seen before, so it isn't anything out of the ordinary.

However, he seems willing to pay the theoretical $50 for his right to play on the server (according to our rules and decorum), which is more than most people would deal with for any other server...

The way I see it, he should front the $50 to play again, and see where this goes from there. If he screws around again, boot him out... for good. He'll be gone, and Voog with have his $50. (As Voog has said though, this shouldn't evolve into some expected course of action, a "Get out of ban for $50 card" if you will)

If he stays trouble free for a while (I dunno, month and a half? 3 months?), maybe you could even give his $50 back... seeing as he was having a moment of stupidity. (I've learned from many in the past years myself -_-) I'd be hard pressed to pay $50 to be able to play on any other server, but these servers and its community is worth it in my eyes.

If he's a part of SA, why didn't he just crash thier own server to "try it out"?

That is why I am struggling with the forgiveness piece. Its more fun to roll your neighbor's house than your own when your "trying it out".

(I may have missed something in a previous post that addressed this)

Looks like the general consensus is gtfo, so I'll cut my losses and take my leave.

I absolutely agree with TiC.

As an admin, I don't want to have to deal with an issue like this. Although he seems apologetic, in this particular case, I don't believe leniency should be necessary at all.

In my opinion, keep the ban and move on. Ban them all or don't ban them at all. There are thousands of other players (who aren't part of these communities) that fill our servers daily. One individual is not going to make a difference.

The ban won't be removed. Sorry.

If it was not an exploit which resulted in a crashed server, I may have had a bit more leniency, crashing or otherwise making the server inaccessible to our members is a large offense and I should have never brought up the "get out of banned for $50 card", truthfully I regretted saying that as soon as it was posted, but it was too late for me to go back and edit it before you quoted it which is why I decided at the time to let it go on.

There's no real way for me to test your sincerity, so the ban will remain.

Next time, think twice. And don't think that you're safe on other servers because I share exploit fly traps with other communities.
