Ban dispute on behalf of "5Rivers"

The following was written by 5Rivers today and not edited by me at all. I'm posting on his behalf because after an hour he still hasn't received a confirmation e-mail when registering with the forums:




Voting abuse

We were at “Convoy,” people started to complaing about the map so I did a vote_map cp_dustbowl. The vote went through and we started playing dustbowl.

I was an engy up where the grate was with my team defending it then I saw I had a free chance to go to console, I went to console and pressed up thinking the command last time was “setinfo name TEAMWIN|5Rivers,” I had forgot about the vote_map… I did this quickly and then pressed enter and a vote came up, I immediately changed my name(by pressing up two more tiems which takes two seconds) and then started yelling “NO!” “NO!!...” I got to say no twice indicating it was a mistake before I got banned. The admin (I think it is THEIF-V-) stopped the vote then did a one day ban….

It was an honest mistake, and it was stopped by a simple stop of the vote from an admin, at most that should have happened since I was saying no! was a “please don’t do that again” and I would have responded in “sorry, it was a mistake” and would have explained.

I feel like certain admins, Theif to name one, are abusing their ban right… and I know how you feel about regulars from the Ban forums on Rev but honestly guys, everyone but especially regs who populate your server, help build the good community that voogru is and everything else should get a warning. This immediate ban is a little crazy guys, don’t your admins have rules to follow?

The one day ban I can handle if need be, although I feel unfair, I just want the admins to act mature in these situations…

Yes it was for starting a dustbowl vote after we had just switched to the map a couple of minutes prior. Also, isn't this your second time around? It really isn't hard to follow the only sticky thread in the forum. The story is great but really no need for it, give the appropriate information and things get solved. Putting up a vote by mistake is just that, and is fine.

Thief, do you even know who you are banning anymore? This is REV posting on behalf of 5RIVERS, the guy you banned today. You banned me 6 days ago for singing. You banned 5 today for accidentally initiating a map vote which you could easily have just canceled. Either way I'm not looking to start a fight, but I think this kind of reply on the forums shows you are being a bit hasty with your bans.

I am quite aware of the player in question and your own ban history. Regardless who this is posted for, you posted it, so the least you could do is tell "him" to format it correctly. Also, the input is supremely appreciated and I look forward to your future conduct reviews.
