I protest the use of this glitch! It does affect gameplay, on crowded maps like pingpong.
People like it too much to give it up, though, so I don't really foresee anyone else crusading the cause. It's just obnoxious, really, and causes much more annoying nagging by people who are new to the server, spamming to find out how to do the trick.
